Albury Neighbourhood Plan: Update
Our Regulation 14 consultation period closed at the end of August. On behalf of the Steering Group, I want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who took part during this consultation phase—whether you spoke with us at the Produce Show, attended a Village Hall event, or dropped into our weekly clinics at the Memorial Library. We are especially grateful to everyone who submitted formal feedback via email or through the online survey.
The overwhelming message from the parish was one of support for the draft plan and for the hard work our volunteers have put into its creation.
In total, we received a strong response from the local community, as well as formal statutory feedback from Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council. The planning team at Guildford provided comprehensive and technical guidance. While this is very positive for the long-term robustness and success of the plan, it will require careful work over the coming months to refine specific policy wording and ensure everything is easy to deliver against.
What happens next?
We are currently working through each piece of feedback systematically. Our key priorities now include:
- Reviewing all resident and stakeholder representations to ensure the final plan accurately reflects our community’s vision.
- Refining policy wording alongside technical specialists and planning officers.
- Preparing the formal Consultation Statement and Basic Conditions Statement required for Regulation 15 submission to Guildford Borough Council, which will lead to independent examination and, ultimately, a public referendum.
Because each representation must be formally logged and addressed, this phase naturally takes time. We ask for your continued patience as we navigate these statutory steps to ensure Albury gets the strongest possible Neighbourhood Plan.
